The Solutions Dialogues were a global event series to raise ambition and accelerate action on coal phase-out.
In 2024, the Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA) Co-Chairs, the United Kingdom and Canada, and Bloomberg Philanthropies convened a series of Solutions Dialogues, hosted around the world. These Dialogues brought together government, business, finance, and civil society leaders to raise ambition and accelerate action on the phase-out of unabated coal power, to keep 1.5°C within reach.
The series began with a High-Level Dialogue at London Climate Action Week on 24th June. Marking the year when the UK closed its last remaining coal power plant, the High-Level Dialogue sent a clear message on the need to accelerate coal phase-out globally.
The Solutions Dialogues then went global, with Regional Dialogues held across the globe throughout 2024.
Regional Dialogues were held in.

We showcased how workers and communities can be protected in the transition from coal to clean whilst boosting local development: through the implementation of place-based policies, people-centred planning processes, and effective financial mechanisms.
We explored how to secure the supply of electricity throughout the transition from coal to clean: through updating energy plans, advancing grid operation and market design, and building renewables, energy storage, and grids at the pace and scale required to meet climate goals.
