Join the PPCA
The Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA) is a global coalition of governments, regions and cities, business and finance, collaborating to overcome the challenges of transitioning away from coal. The Alliance was launched at COP23 in 2017 by the governments of Canada and the United Kingdom and quickly expanded into a global network connecting governments, finance, businesses and technical experts to support secure and affordable coal transitions.
Why become a member
PPCA membership offers the opportunity to receive bespoke support, access world-class expertise from our global network, help shape the international architecture of coal transition and showcase your achievements through international platforms.
The PPCA is a credible, committed, international institution – joining the Alliance signals to financial institutions and partner governments that your transition is well-planned and supported. The Alliance’s coordinated communications and diplomatic presence can help build momentum for your coal transition and amplify your leadership globally.
How to become a member
PPCA members commit not to build new unabated coal power and to work towards a phase-out of unabated coal power. We encourage new members to endorse the PPCA Declaration and to take necessary steps to prime the policy and finance environment ahead of coal transition.
To apply to join please send a letter or email to the PPCA Secretariat confirming your commitment to the Alliance’s goals and briefly outlining steps being taken by your government or business to support the transition away from coal.
To explore other avenues to partner with the PPCA, please see the Coal Transition Commission (CTC) or get in touch.
If you have any questions about membership or other ways to get involved, please get in touch with the PPCA Secretariat.
