The PPCA Solutions Dialogues 2024 are a series of Regional Dialogues held across the globe between June and COP29 in Azerbaijan. These Dialogues will bring together government, business, finance and civil society leaders to raise ambition and accelerate action on the phase-out of unabated coal power, to keep 1.5°C within reach.
The Singapore International Energy Week offers a great moment to deepen the conversation on the mechanisms and considerations are necessary for a coal-to-clean transition in Southeast Asian energy markets and power systems context. While the economic, security, and affordability benefits of the transition are many, the context of Southeast Asia is particularly difficult. Understanding practical considerations both relating to energy security and the economic aspects of coal transitions will be critical.
The PPCA, is partnering with GFANZ and Bloomberg Philanthropies to organize a roundtable discussion bringing together energy sector stakeholders, financial institutions, and experts to discuss ongoing efforts on coal transition in the APAC region and what opportunities and challenges exist to advance future managed coal phase-out in Southeast Asia. This roundtable will also help provide practical inputs to the Coal Transition Commission, which is a workstream of the Coal Transition Accelerator, aiming to deliver practical progress to support countries in accelerating their transition from coal to clean.
