Unlocking the Grid of the Future: Expanding Transmission Infrastructure

The PPCA and the Green Grids Initiative (GGI) have come together to provide this briefing on the importance of expanding transmission systems to the energy transition. Rapidly building out electricity grids is a critical step in phasing out coal power and creating a clean energy future – there is no transition without transmission. Grids and transmission infrastructure, however, are complex and expensive systems to develop and require detailed planning as well as collective action. Given this, the sharing of knowledge, expertise and experience is key.

The GGI have released an Electricity Transition Playbook that aims to support the transition to clean grids, and the briefing found here draws on case studies from the Philippines and southern Africa to provide real life examples of effective, existing initiatives.
