COP30, Belem, Brazil
14 November • 12:30-13:45 (local time)
Special Event Room 1 – São Francisco
Organized by the COP Presidency, Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA), Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance (BOGA), Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP), Coalition on Phasing Out Fossil Fuel Incentives Including Subsidies (COFFIS), and Equitable Framework and Finance for Extractive-based Countries in Transition (EFFECT)
COP30 marks an important opportunity to demonstrate collective progress on transitioning away from fossil fuels, and how countries and initiatives are working together to address challenges and accelerate the clean energy transition in support of shared prosperity and resilience.
The outcomes of the first Global Stocktake (GST) at COP28 called on Parties to work towards an orderly, just and equitable transition away from fossil fuels. Building on this mandate, this event will mark a key milestone in translating ambition into action by launching and presenting Action Plans that set out concrete next steps to accelerate the transition and emphasise how shared experiences and enabling partnerships are driving progress on the ground.
Organized by the COP30 Presidency, Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA), Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance (BOGA), Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP), Coalition on Phasing Out Fossil Fuel Incentives Including Subsidies (COFFIS), and Equitable Framework and Finance for Extractive-based Countries in Transition (EFFECT), this event will demonstrate how coordinated efforts across multiple coalitions and countries are converging to accelerate implementation of the GST through on-the-ground results, practical solutions, and enabling partnerships. Reflecting the COP30 Presidency’s “mutirão” spirit of collective implementation, the event will showcase how collaborative action across multiple coalitions and countries is accelerating the transition in line with the GST mandate.
