  • Direct introductions to public and private financial institutions, and technical specialists whose support can make early coal retirement or repurposing viable.

The international support framework that will determine the pace of coal transition is being shaped now. The Alliance ensures that coal-dependent countries and their partners have a seat at the table – so that decisions reflect the realities of those leading the transition on the ground.
  • Working through the Coal Transition Commission to turn country and partner experience into concrete recommendations for the international community on finance, policy and technical support.
  • Bringing the experience of coal-dependent countries into international and regional decision-making fora (e.g., UNFCCC, G7, G20 or ASEAN) where key actors come together to collaborate and co-design support frameworks that can help deliver on-the-ground results.

It also hosts the Coal Transition Commission which spans a wide group of governments, financial institutions and industries. Supporting both the Alliance and the Coal Transition Commission are our partners, a group of technical experts and international organisations.
